Mr.
Rhett Cox addressed the parents:
Marching Arts Festival:
·
Many thanks
to all the parents on behalf of him and Mr. Hoey
·
Overwhelmingly positive feedback
·
98% positive
comments on e-mails
·
Only a few
issues that are easily fixed next year
·
Many thanks
to Julie, Marilyn, and George
·
Good
preplanning on Marilyn’s part, everything went smoothly
·
Net profit
was similar to last year’s even though we had less bands
·
Our band
parent organization reputation is held in high regard
·
UCF director
Ron Ellis- “tell the parents how much we appreciated the
reception and the food” - The UCF kids hadn’t eaten all day and
they were thankful for hot dogs and chips
Next
year’s MAF date already set for Oct 16th:
·
Knowing this
early gives us a whole year to plan
·
We hope to
get good judges
·
The later
date will help get more bands since 2 more weeks of preparation
·
The Friday
before is a day off from school
·
The Thursday
before is an away game, so the field will not be ruined
Thursday night: Home game vs. Winter Springs
Recruitment of 8th graders:
·
Last Friday
the Regiment went to Avalon MS for recruitment
·
Need to go
to Discovery MS this Thursday, but facilities not big enough for
the whole Regiment. So only Wind Ensemble, battery, and rifle
line. The small group should return by 5-5:15 PM
·
Eighth
graders given t-shirts to welcome them into Regiment next year
which they are to wear to MS night the following Friday. Shirts
are similar to Within shirts, but they have ’14 on the back
since that is their graduating class
·
We took a
hit this year with East River opening. Regiment down by 10%
Friday:
rehearsal from 9 AM-4 PM
Next
Friday Oct 23rd is Middle School Night
Oct
24th University Invitational:

Earlier

Oct
29th:
·
Was
originally scheduled for Fall Concert
·
Over the
Summer, the Jones HS athletic directors said they wanted to do
the game on Friday Oct 30th even though there was no school that
Friday
·
Just found
out last Friday that they changed their minds and game is now on
that Thursday instead
·
So the Fall
Concert has been rescheduled for Tues. Nov. 3rd - will be a
short concert

Away game at
Jones will actually be played at the Citrus Bowl, 7pm start time

end of the season, it’s a big deal performing in front of

the students
Last
game Friday Nov. 13th- Senior Night:
·
There will
be passes for parents to escort the students
·
Head counts
are needed so please let us know if you plan to escort your
Senior
·
Regiment
will perform half-time show at that game, last home show for the
Seniors
Tarpon
Springs itinerary reviewed:
·
Hardest
State Regional since BOA was cancelled
·
Discussed
purpose of participating in tough competition
·
Not
Regiment’s philosophy to go to easy competitions and win many
trophies
·
Seminole HS
a great competitor, almost always place ahead of us
·
Judging is
subjective
·
The score is
less important than being remembered for having a great show
·
Parents must
be professional at all times; we represent something bigger;
support all the kids
·
Okay to be
obnoxious and crazy with our own band
·
Want
Regiment to watch and support Cypress Creek
·
We perform
at 8:50, 2nd to last band
·
Late night,
will take a while to load the equipment

$30 dollars
per person for charter bus. He shopped around and got a lower
price by $600
