Monthly Band Parent Meeting

The meeting began at 7:00 p.m. with a welcome by Mr. Cox and a review of the Regiment’s important upcoming dates.

 Friday, August 28 ~ our first football game of the 2009 season will be at home vs. Spruce Creek.  This is considered a pre-season game, so our students will not be in uniform, and the other band will not be in attendance. 

 Friday, September 4 ~ our first away game and uniformed performance.  We will depart TCHS at 5:30 p.m. and return around 11:00 p.m.  

Saturday, September 12 ~ we will hold our annual Rehearse-A-Thon, BBQ and Premier Show.  All BBQ ticket forms are due by September 4.  We will premier as much of the show as we can to family/friends at 8:30 p.m. in the stadium.  Will we have two clinicians working/rehearsing with our students that day.  Also, the usual highlight of the day is when parents get to assume their child’s position on the field, instrument in hand!

 Friday, September 18 ~ home game vs. Wekiva

 Friday, September 25 ~ homecoming game vs. Oviedo

 Friday, October 2 ~ we will have a rehearsal after school until around 10:00 p.m. or so.  This is in anticipation of the Marching Arts Festival we are hosting the next day.  We do not compete; however, the Regiment will be marching in exhibition. 

 Saturday, October 3 ~ TC Marching Arts Festival.  We will host 12-15 bands for a state competition.  Many parent volunteers will be needed to help make this event a success

Friday, October 16, 2009 ~ Regiment rehearsal, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Saturday, October 17, 2009 ~ FMBC State Regional competition in Tarpon Springs, FL (Tampa area)

Friday, October 23, 2009 ~ Home game vs. Colonial (8th Grade Night)

Saturday, October 24, 2009 ~ FMBC State Regional competition at University High School

Thursday, October 29 ~ Fall Concert in PAC at 7:00 p.m.

Friday, October 30, 2009 ~ Away game at Jones

Friday, November 6 ~ Away game at University

Saturday, November 7 ~ District Marching MPA at Citrus Bowl

Friday, November 13 ~ Home game vs. Cypress Creek (Senior Night celebrated during halftime)

Saturday, December 5 ~ Avalon Holiday Parade (We have also been asked to participate in another holiday parade at UCF.  More information TBA.

Tuesday, December 15 ~ Winter Concert in PAC at 7:00 p.m.

Travel Intent Forms

The Regiment is considering two travel trips this year.  Please refer to the ‘Travel Intent Form’ for more information.  We need parental feedback on this to determine if we will be taking these trips (Busch Gardens & Washington DC).

 Marching Arts Festival

Our annual Marching Arts Festival is coming up on Saturday, October 3.  Many volunteers are needed to ensure our festival is a success!  Please contact Marilyn Hernandez at mary12474@aol.com.  

 Fundraising Opportunities

The Entertainment Book fundraiser has been extended to September 4.  Don’t forget you may earn money for your student’s account by working with our off-campus concession crew.  Contact Karen Lattin at tchsoffcampus@hotmail.com for more information.

 Spirit Gear

Orders are now being taken for Regiment t-shirts, polo shirts, hoodies, pants, and student window decals.  Show your pride and help the band at the same time.  Spirit Gear purchases helped raise over $2,500 last year!  Contact Vicki Young at vickiusafretired@yahoo.com

 Help Needed

Donations of medical supplies (bandages, wraps, Tylenol, energy bars, etc.) are appreciated and needed by our nurse, Colleen Sibel.  Contact her at colleens1000@comcast.net

We need volunteers to help man the concession stands during the junior varsity and varsity football games.  Also, we are responsible for the concession stand during soccer games as well.  (You can earn money for your student’s trip account by working the concession stand during soccer games only).  Please contact Mark Frye at mark@majortechnologies.com for more information.

Our next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 17, 2009 at 7:00 p.m.
