Band students are almost always chaperoned during any sort of band outing. We take the safety
of students very seriously. Students, band staff, and parents all agree to band conduct
guidelines.
Chaperones are especially busy during football games. They take the responsibility of
supervising band students on buses and verify that all students obey band conduct guidelines.
They serve the students by supplying ice, water, cups, and other supplies to help keep the
band students hydrated or dry during those occasional rainy games.
The Chaperone Coordinator takes the responsibility of supplying the band director, as required,
with chaperones for all band functions. The Chaperone Coordinator also works to ensure that
all chaperones meet the standards for supervising band students. They verify all parent
chaperones adhere to all Orange County Public School regulations and band conduct guidelines.
We are responsible for relating both the "news" of the Timber Creek High School band
program, as well as upcoming events. We hope that by communicating well, parents,
family, sponsors, and the community in general feel more a part of the Timber Creek
band experience.
Email Updates - Announcements concerning Timber Creek band events are sent out regularly
via Staccato emails. Sign
up to receive the "Staccato" e-blast. "Staccato" is
our email about the Timber Creek Bands program. We send it at least weekly
during marching season, and less frequently the rest of the year. Click below
for archived issues.
If you have any questions or concerns about the website, please contact
Sam Kohrs. Your assistance is always appreciated!
Fundraising Fundraising Coordinators Rick & Katrina Brown
Fund Raising seeks to create opportunities for band students and parents to raise funds
for the student's involvement in the Timber Creek band programs. Students can have their
profits from various fund raisers applied toward paying their band fees, trip fees, or
other special fees.
There will be fund development activities through the year. We will
offer opportunities for each family to be involved in a sale of goods and goodies, car washes
(two to three) and a local eating establishment, for a Timber Creek Regiment Night Out.
In our sales of goods, we pick those companies that will give us the highest percentage
of profit. Generally these monies will go into each students band account. There may
be one or two of these sales events that may go into the general band fund. Mr. Cox
will make the selection, depending where the general band fund stands.
If you have any questions, regarding any fundraising activities, please contact
Rick and Katrina Brown.
Guard Liaison
Laura Haggerty
The responsibilities of the Guard Liaison focus on providing support to the Guard
and the Guard staff. This includes coordinating help for uniforms, making and maintaining
flags, and helping with the Guards hairstyling, makeup and preparation before games and
competitions. The Guard Liaison also provides coordination for fund-raising events for
the Guard.
After regular marching season, the TCHS Regiment Color Guard participates in WGI
(Winter Guard International sanctioned competitions for indoor color guard.
This activity requires a significant level of support from the parents and Guard
boosters. During the Winter Guard season the Guard Liaison needs all the help and
voluntary support that can be offered.
Contact Laura Haggerty to volunteer your
support for the Guard.
Historian Dave Friedberg - Historian
The Historian's duties include recording and documenting events of the various portions
of the Timber Creek Bands program both on and off the field, in the Performing Arts Center, etc..
One of the most exciting duties of the Historian is
to produce a keepsake video/slideshow of the band's experiences that will be shown at the
year-end banquet.
Other responsibilities can include creating and maintaining a scrapbook that the students can
view throughout the year, organizing a "visual display booth" that will be set up at fund
raising activities and other events, and more. If you'd like to help out, drop
Dave Friedberg
an email.
Hospitality Patti Davis
and Geralynn Esposito- Hospitality Coordinators
The Hospitality Committee is a group that reaches out and welcomes other visiting
organizations or individuals to the Timber Creek band community and beautiful campus.
We need a few band parent volunteers to help, and what a great way to begin to get
involved with your student's band program.
We are predominantly responsible for welcoming visiting bands to
Timber Creek High School on football home game nights.
First, we make sure they have directions to the school, parking instructions, and concession
stand information.
Secondly, we prepare the stands for their arrival and personally greet them on game night.
Lastly, we will check back with them to see if we can assist with anything else.
The Hospitality Committee may also be called upon to assist with other Regiment functions
involving "hospitality" such as organizing dinner for our Regiments' families on the
last night of band camp. Other responsibilities may evolve this year, too.
Please feel free to volunteer. We need you and your input to make our Timber Creek Bands
program an even more "people friendly" organization!
Contact Patti Davis or
Geralynn Esposito.
Medical Crew Colleen Sibel
The primary responsibilities of the Medical Crew is maintain accurate
medical information for each band member and to assist the band members,

required.

gauze bandages, Band-Aids, Neosporin ointment, icy hot patches or cream,
protein bars and any other first aid items are appreciated.
Please contact Colleen Sibel
if you would like to volunteer or have questions.
Off-Campus Concessions Karen and Rob Lattin Off-Campus Concessions Chair
Off-Campus Concessions seeks to create income for the TCHS band program by selling
concessions at various events not held at Timber Creek. Our primary venues for doing
this are currently the TD Waterhouse Center and the Citrus Bowl. At each event, we are
responsible for the set-up, cooking, selling, and clean up of the stand we are assigned.
Our commission is based on the gross sales our stand makes. The more we sell,
the more we earn. When you work with us, you earn money that goes into your Trip
Account and you also earn money that goes into the General Band Fund to support the
various band programs.
At most events we coordinate a group of 8-10 TCHS band parents and students
(who are at least 16 years old) to work in one of the concession stands at the
TD Waterhouse Centre or the Citrus Bowl. We have to schedule the events we work
over a month in advance. We try not to schedule any event to work that will conflict
with the football games or competitions that The Regiment will be performing in.
That way we can support our students when they perform.
It is easy to learn where to go and what to do at these events. We always welcome
new people. Those of us who have worked together at the different events have concluded
that this is a great opportunity for fellowship with other parents and students. As we
average about 8 people a night, you really get a chance to get to know the different
people with whom you work.
If you would like to help out at an Off-Campus Event, please contact
Karen and Rob Lattin.
On-Campus Concessions Mark Frye - On-Campus Concessions Chair
On-Campus Concessions plays an important part of the TCHS Band Program. Selling concessions
during various events held at Timber Creek High School makes it possible for us to raise
several thousand dollars. These dollars are used to help underwrite several aspects of
the band program.
We operate the concession stand at all varsity and junior varsity football games. We
also occasionally work other special events that take place on campus. It takes a
minimum of 12-15 parent volunteers to operate the concession stand efficiently.
Responsibilities include setting up, cooking, selling, and cleaning up the concession
stand after every game. Jobs vary within the concession stand and are easy to learn.
If you feel this is the area in which you would like to volunteer,
please contact Mark Frye.
Pit Crew Mike Sibel - Pit Crew Coordinator
Tired of sitting around on Friday nights? Looking to get some exercise at bargain prices?
Want to be in the great outdoors? Want to experience great entertainment close up?
Then you need to think about being part of the Timber Creek Regiment Pit Crew.
So, you ask, what does this Pit Crew do? Does it have something to do with fruit
or digging holes? Well not exactly...
The "pit", in marching band, consists of the immovable instruments like the marimbas
and tympani that are set up in front of the field. The Pit Crew is responsible for moving
the equipment on and off the field for performances. The Pit Crew also transports the pit
equipment and all the other large equipment like tubas, drums, flags, water and occasionally
a golf cart, to and from all events. Our motto is "We Load, We Unload, We Move".
Being on the Pit Crew is easy, you just need to sign up and be available for our performance
events. So you say, "I can't make it to every game." That's OK. Some "Pit-dads" or
"Pit-moms" work part time and may just help at home games or whenever they have extra time.
Some just help us load and unload the truck at the school.
If you feel this is the area in which you would like to volunteer,
please contact Mike Sibel.
Secretary Andrea Michalak
The primary responsibilities of secretary is to record the minutes of all formal
meetings and create formal correspondence. In addition, the secretary will
create and maintain files of all Correspondence and minutes of all formal meetings.

to the world of being a Regiment parent. The 9th grade liaison and his/her staff of volunteers
will provide new parents with the information and guidance to make a smooth transition from the
middle school level of participation to the high school volunteer ranks.
To become a 9th grade liaison volunteer, an assistant to the secretary or would to
receive further information please contact
Patti Blouin.
Special Events
Sometimes there are special events that require a lot of extra help, such as our Timber
Creek Marching Arts Festival, Golf Tournament, or other events. This is a perfect opportunity
for volunteering without a long-term commitment. Typically we need help with parking, guiding
bands, and much more. Contact Band Parent Organization President
Julie Frye.
Spirit Vicki Young - Spirit Coordinator
The primary focus of the Spirit Coordinator is to support our kids, directors and parents,
while developing a sense of excitement and pride in the Timber Creek band program.
Spirit will develop and promote programs for parents and boosters to help spread the
word and show how exciting it is to be part of this program. The Coordinator, along
with the Spirit Committee, will provide opportunities for parents and boosters to
purchase clothing and promotional items during the year. We will also coordinate
the Wolf Attacks on unsuspecting recipients as well as Spirit Nights at various
supportive restaurants.
During marching season, as well as concert time, Spirit will work in tandem with
other committees to coordinate activities for our kids and parents to support the
band during games, competitions and concerts.
To get involved in spreading Wolf Spirit contact
Vicki Young.
Treasurer Cynthia Novoa - Treasurer
The primary responsibilities of treasurer is to collect and transfer monies received
to the school bookkeeper and maintains proper records of monies credited to band accounts.
I coordinate accounts with the Fund Raising personnel to insure that
each student's fund-raising efforts are credited to them in an accurate and timely fashion.
If you have any questions regarding the accounting please contact
Cynthia Novoa
.
Uniforms Sonia Small and Blanca Alvarez - Uniform Coordinators
We are responsible for dressing the Timber Creek Regiment with "Pride". We start during
band camp, preparing the students and the uniforms for the upcoming marching season.
Fitting, hemming, alterations, logging uniform numbers for organizational purposes;
all are completed before the 1st football game and halftime show!
Additional help is also needed throughout the football season as uniform distribution,
collection, and maintenance happens every week. The Uniform "Moms and Dads" often
spend evening band rehearsals catching up on repairs. Many band members will continue
to grow, so hemming and reassigning uniforms never ends!
When football season is over, we begin Concert Season and the fitting, hemming,
and maintaining cycle starts all over again with the wardrobe worn by the Wind Ensemble:
black tuxedoes and long formal evening gowns.
There is always something happening in the uniform room! Volunteers are needed and
appreciated, daytime or evening (even hemming at home). Sewing skills are not required.
To volunteer contact
Sonia Small
or Blanca Alvarez.
